Out and about

Swimming with giant sea turtles on Poipu Beach, boogie-boarding the Hawaiian surf, hiking to and then plunging into Eagle Lake in Emerald Bay, Nevada … these are some of the activities that have distracted me from posting over the past 20 days or so.
Summers here are long and to be enjoyed. If — and it’s a big if — you have the income and leisure time to be able to afford to do so. This wasn’t and isn’t necessarily the case with us. But we nevertheless have managed to take advantage of the great outdoors over the past months — or at least since the children broke up from school some 70 days ago.
Who would have “thunk” it? Me, the confirmed urbanite. Enjoying all that healthful fresh air and all that magnificent, soul-enriching scenery?
