Ever felt someone was planning something extra special for you on Christmas day?

We have now had three earthquakes in almost as many days in Berkeley. And I’m beginning to think we may be in for a super shaker of a present in two days’ time.

The three quakes were of similar magnitude — over 3.5 — and in the same spot, just a few hundred yards from my friend Frances’ house in fact.

Frances lost her previous home in the Oakland Fire of 1991 so is the last person who needs to be reminded of how vulnerable we are to the forces of Nature.

I’m now actively hoping all I get for Christmas is another sweater.
